Rep. Hollo to Run for New House Seat

Mark Hollo will Seek Re-election to New N.C. House Seat Representing Alexander, Yadkin and Wilkes Counties

Taylorsville - (October 10, 2011) Today, Representative Mark Hollo announced his intention to seek the newly formed House District 73 seat which joints Alexander and Yadkin counties and includes a section of southeastern Wilkes County. The new district was created as part of the Legislature’s recent Redistricting following the 2010 census.

A two term incumbent, Rep. Hollo Chairs the House Health and Human Services Committee, is Vice-Chairman of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Health and Human Services and serves on other committees including Homeland Security, Military and Veterans Affairs.

Mark Hollo is a long time conservative Republican, who was first elected to the House in 2004. Following a narrow loss in 2006, Hollo retook the seat in 2010 and is a leader in the new Republican Majority which now controls both chambers of the General Assembly.

“I am pleased with the progress our Republican Majority has made this year including balancing the State’s Budget, cutting taxes and regulations, enacting tort reform, medical malpractice reform, and workers compensation reform. Republicans are turning our State around. Republicans want to make North Carolina the best place in the Nation to raise a family and grow a business.”

“Alexander is joining Yadkin and part of Wilkes in a new district. I look forward to serving my friends in Alexander and making new friends in Yadkin and Wilkes. We all share the need for economic development and jobs and that will continue to be my number one priority." Rep. Mark Hollo
